ST. JAMES PARISH HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE MASSACHUSETTS INTERFAITH POWER & LIGHT ORGANIZATION FOR IT'S EFFORTS IN THE "PAPER RETRIEVER" PROGRAM.
A COPY OF THE AWARD PRESENTED TO DEACON NORM CAN BE SEEN BY CLICKING BELOW:
In the Old Testament and in particular the Book of Genesis, chapter 1: 11-12, we find that God gave us plants and fruit trees and in GN 1:28 God gave us "dominion" over all His creation. We received a mandate that we are to be "good stewards" of His handy work. Through the centuries, humankind has not taken the mandate seriously. Habitants of this planet have been using our God given resources without any thought of the long term consequences.
That being said, we at St. James will be able to assist in minimizing the cutting of trees for the production of paper. We are embarking on a program called "PAPER RETRIEVER". In the near future you will find a yellow and green dumpster next to the regular dumpster. The dumpster is for the deposit of your RECYCLABLE newspapers
magazines, old paperback books, junk mail, office and school papers and shopping cataloges. Please....NO CARDBOARD, NO OLD TELEPHONE BOOKS, NO PLASTICS.
Our involvement in this program will indicate our concern for the environment but most importantly is that we are good stewards of His creations.
On a regular basis, when coming to Mass or any other activity, just bring your paper bag of recyclable items and deposit them in the special yellow and green dumpster. The fallout of this program is that Good Lord will bless us and we will recieve monies for our efforts.
If we can deposit 20 tons per month, we will receive $20.00 per ton.
Not Bad !!!! I was informed by the Recycling Company that the newspaper you are reading today is the contribution you made three weeks ago.
Since our program started in April of 2006, we have contibuted a total of 56,209 pounds of recycled paper. This represents a total of 86 cubic yards of environmentally saved land fill. We received a total of $484.16 of revenue from this effort. We have averaged 3.12 tons per month.
IF WE COULD CONTRIBUTE OVER 4 TONS A MONTH WE WOULD REALIZE MUCH MORE INCOME. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR FAMILIES, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO TRY AND MEET THIS NEW GOAL.
If you have any questions relative to this program, please call me at 978.578.4832 or e-mail me at npaudet@aol.com
